はじめに

本協会は1967年5月｢21世紀への新しい波を京都から!｣を設立主旨として､京都にデザイン活動の基盤をおく各ジャンルの第一線で活躍するデザイナーおよびデザイン団体を結集し､京都デザイン協議会として組織され発足しました｡
1979年京都デザイン協議会を京都デザイン協会と改名､1981年に社団法人京都デザイン協会に移行し､現在､グラフィック､インテリア､ディスプレイ､建築､都市計画､プロダクト､テキスタイル､コスチューム､などの幅広いジャンルの会員により構成されています｡
本協会はデザインをつうじて京都の地域産業の振興とその国際的独自性の確立をはかり､併せて京都の心豊かな地域生活環境の形成に寄与することを目的として､府､市､公共団体等のデザイン振興事業の受託実施､会議､展覧会の開催､国内外の関係諸団体との交流､連携､等の社会的活動を力強く展開しつつあります｡
これらの活動が契機となり､｢新しい波｣として京都から全国に､さらに世界に向かって波及することを願うものです｡関係の皆さまの絶大なご支援とご協力を賜わりますことをお願い申し上げます｡

The Kyoto Design Association was organized and established
in the frame work of the Kyoto Design Council in 1967 under purpose
"To send a new wave of influence from Kyoto to the rest of the world
during the 21st century". gathering the top designers
and leading affiliated organizations who have their business bases
here in Kyoto.
At present, it is comprised of members ranging from
graphic designers, display designers, architects, city planners,
product designers, textile designers, to costume designers.
